Un libro molto carino che tratta la storia (inventata, anche se si rifà ad un'esperienza vissuta dall'autrice) di una donna bianca negli anni '60 a Jackson, Mississipi, e della sua idea di scrivere delle domestiche di colore che allevavano i bambini delle loro padrone.
L'ho trovato ben scritto, e la storia é appassionante. Rimane sempre shockante quanti cambiamenti (per fortuna) siano avvenuti in poco meno di 50 anni.
Punti positivi: la scrittura, i diversi punti di vista, l'idea di base
Punti negativi: Stuart (l'ho trovato insulso, dava sicuramente drammaticità, ma a volte era fastidioso) e la storia della malattia della madre (un po' superficiale nel finale)
In generale, é un libro a target prevalentemente femminile (non che sia qualcosa di negativo a priori, ma non é sicuramente per tutti), e a me é piaciuto.

A very nice book that deals with the history (invented, but refers to an experience of the author) of a white woman in the 60's in Jackson, Mississippi, and her idea to write about the color household who raised the children of their master.
I found it well written, and the story is fascinating. It is for me always shocking how many changes (thankfully) have occurred in less than 50 years.
Positive points: writing, the different points of view, the basic idea
Negative points: Stuart (I found it bland, definitely gave dramatic, but sometimes it was annoying) and the story of her mother's illness (a little surface in the final)
In general, it is a book to target predominantly female (not that anything negative from the outset, but it is definitely not for everyone), and I liked it.
