Dopo Alice in wonderland, di cui ho apprezzato moltissimo la scenografia e i costumi, ma poco tutto il resto, ero in trepidante attesa di questo nuovo film di Tim Burton, evitando ogni tipo di spoiler.
La storia di Barnabas Collins, tratta da una soap opera gotica anni '70, e del suo ritorno alla cittadina natale e alla propria famiglia, é già in partenza molto in stile Burton. Il resto oscilla tra la commedia e il gotico, senza decidersi bene su quale dei due generi soffermarsi.
Punti positivi: la recitazione in generale, la scenografia, i costumi, il trucco (soprattutto nel finale), la seconda parte del film.
Punti negativi: la prima parte del film risulta un po' lenta e ripetitiva, il finale che sembra voler inneggiare ad un sequel (e da Burton non me lo sarei aspettato), il fatto di non prendere una direzione certa rispetto ad un genere.
In generale é un film che ho reputato carino, divertente, e con una storia interessante. Mi é piaciuto molto il fatto di non avere per una volta un eroe totalmente positivo. Anche se, rispetto alla soap opera originale, Barnabas é stato decisamente reso più buono.

After Alice in Wonderland, which I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and costumes,but not the rest, I was eagerly awaiting this new film by Tim Burton, avoiding any kind of spoiler.
The story of Barnabas Collins, is based by a Gothic soap opera of the 70s, and his return to hometown and his family, is already very Burton style. The rest is between comedy and gothic, without deciding which of the two kinds of good to dwell.
Positive points: acting in general, the set design, costumes, make-up (especially the ending), the second part of the film.
Negative points: the first part of the film is a little slow and repetitive, the ending seems to praise to a sequel (I would not have expected this by Burton), the fact of not taking a certain direction with respect to a genre.
In general it is a movie that I found cute, fun, and with an interesting history. I liked very much the fact of not having a totally positive hero for once. Although,compared to the original soap opera, Barnabas was definitely more positive.
