Un libro che mi ha dato da pensare: come può una donna annullarsi tanto per una persona che conosce solo di vista? La protagonista (é un'autobiografia) é una ragazza svizzera durante una vacanza in Kenya, incontra un masai e se ne "innamora" a prima vista. Lascia il suo ragazzo e si trasferisce nel suo villaggio masai (dopo qualche contrattempo iniziale). Si ammala almeno duecento volte (malaria, scabbia, ancora malaria...), si sposa, rimane incinta e infine torna in Svizzera perché, stranamente, la cultura di suo marito é troppo rigida per una donna occidentale (il marito continua ad accusarla di tradimento, e la perquisisce pure per trovare prove).
Quindi, dopo averlo letto tutto, aver visto che l'autrice ha scritto altri 3 libri ed é diventata super famosa mi sono chiesta: ne valeva la pena? E soprattutto: perché? Per me c'é davvero una sottile linea tra amore ed ossessione... e a mio modo di vedere é la seconda a prevalere in questa storia.
Punti positivi: leggere un punto di vista diverso dal proprio, la vita dei masai e la loro cultura é interessante
Punti negativi: la scrittura, le scene di sesso che ho trovato fuori luogo (se fossi nella figlia, non le avrei mai volute sapere)
In generale é un libro che ho letto in fretta, ma per molti argomenti mi ha lasciato perplessa.

A book that got me thinking: how can a woman just to cancel her personality for a person who knows only by sight? The main character (it is an autobiography) is a Swiss girl while on holiday in Kenya, meets a Masai and she fall in "love" at first sight. Leave her boyfriend and moves into his Masai village (after some initial mishap). Becomes ill at least two hundred times (malaria, scabies, malaria still ...), marries, becomes pregnant and then returned to Switzerland because, oddly, the culture of her husband is too stiff for a western woman (her husband continues to accuse her of betrayal, and even raided for evidence).
So, after reading it all, seeing that the author has written 3 other books and has become super famous, I wondered: was it worth it? And above all: why? For me there is really a thin line between love and obsession ... and for my point of view is the second to prevail in this story.
Positive points: Read a viewpoint other than their own, the life of the Masai and their culture is interesting
Negative points: the writing, sex scenes that I found out of place (if I were in her daughter, I would not have ever wanted to know)
In general it is a book that I read quickly, but for many issues left me puzzled.
