Film tratto da un libro composto interamente da email, chat, ecc. Il punto di partenza, adattare un libro di questo tipo in un film, non era facile. E, secondo me, non é riuscito del tutto.
L'inizio de Il pescatore di sogni premetteva molto bene: humour inglese, personaggi abbastanza interessanti (soprattutto Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt é veramente troppo lineare), un'idea surreale che prende piega. Ma la pellicola peggiora ad ogni minuto, rendendo il tutto esageratamente sentimentale e prevedibile.
Punti positivi: Ewan McGregor, l'idea di fondo di inserire qualcosa di estraneo in un altro contesto con tutte le metafore che ne derivano, Kristin Scott Thomas (anche se a volte era un po' esagerata)
Punti negativi: lo sceicco filosofo (insopportabile), Emily Blunt (inutile e scontata), il fidanzato soldato (possibile che alla fine sembra che sia uscito da una sfilata di moda? Ridicolo)
È un peccato che non si sia riusciti a fare qualcosa di meglio, le premesse c'erano tutte.
Secondo me, potrebbe essere un film gradevole e senza pretese per una serata tranquilla davanti al televisore.

Films adapted from a book composed entirely of email, chat, etc.. The starting point, to adapt a book of this type in a film, it was not easy. And, in my opinion, is not entirely successful. The beginning of Salmon fishing in the Yemen prefaced very well: British humor, the characters interesting enough (especially Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt is just too linear), an idea that takes surreal turn. But the film gets worse every minute, making it all overly sentimental and predictable.
Good Points: Ewan McGregor, the idea of inserting something foreign in another context with all the metaphors derived there, Kristin Scott Thomas (although sometimes it was a bit exaggerated)
Negative points: sheikh philosopher (unbearable), Emily Blunt (useless and obvious), the soldier boyfriend (can eventually seems to have emerged from a fashion show? Ridiculous)
It is a shame that we have not managed to do something better, the premises were there.
In my opinion, could be a pleasant and unpretentious film for a quiet evening watching television.
